Phoenix, AZ - In a historic victory for the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), Team WNBA defeated Team USA 117-109 in the 2024 All-Star Game on Saturday in Phoenix. MVP Arike Ogwunbowale led the way for the WNBA team, scoring a record 34 points.
Team WNBA took control of the game in the third quarter, shooting an impressive 684 percent from the field and outscoring Team USA by 11 points. The WNBA team continued their dominance in the fourth quarter, shooting 455 percent and holding Team USA to just 375 percent shooting.
Ogwunbowale's record-breaking performance was supported by strong contributions from Breanna Stewart (23 points) and A'ja Wilson (18 points). Diana Taurasi led Team USA with 24 points, followed by Shakira Austin's 18 points.
The victory marks the second consecutive year that the WNBA All-Star Team has defeated Team USA. In 2021, the WNBA All-Stars won 93-85.
The high-scoring affair showcased the talent and athleticism of the WNBA's top players. The game also served as a preview of the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics, where Team USA will look to avenge their All-Star Game loss.
